Intech Hawaii, a Honolulu information technology firm, has hired four technicians this year as it grows in the midst of what generally has proven to be a jobless economic recovery.

Because the economic recovery is widely considered to be in a fragile state, Intech Hawaii is among Hawaii businesses qualifying for some of the thousands of dollars in tax credits being thrown at companies under the new federal Hiring Incentives to Restore Employment Act, which was enacted in March.

The tax credits weren’t the reason Intech Hawaii decided to add staff, but they became available at the right time for the company, which conveniently qualified for the H.I.R.E. tax credits.

“It was a bonus,” President Sam Gridley told PBN. “We hire based on what the market needs, not based on an incentive from somewhere. We’ve been growing, adding customers and, knock on wood, have been really fortunate.”
